BHOAP short film and ways to promote older adult behavioral health support

We’re sharing an important short film that highlights older adults navigating their mental health needs. The Older Adult Behavioral Health Network (OABHN) partnered with Pixela Films to highlight service providers, clients, and other supporters of the BHOAP program at Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services. The film shows what can be done to help older adults, why it matters, and how fulfilling a career in aging can be. Please share this video far and wide to:
  • Advocate for increased funding of BHOAP and similar programs in the MA budget and legislature,
  • Highlight why careers in aging are beneficial to even younger clinicians and care providers,
  • Tell these important stories of understanding, protecting, and promoting the mental health and well being of older adults, and more.
And later this week - join us for an afternoon of awareness. Help us share the message that older adults can live full, healthy lives in community with the right supports – including from BHOAP teams – and that strengthening the mental health of our older population strengthens our entire community.
Between 11a and noon on Thursday, June 11, we ask you to please share one of the following posts on your social media page(s). Schedule it now or repost from MAMH on the day of.
Option 1 (shorter length for Threads, X, etc.)
As we age, we gain protective factors – wisdom and resilience – but barriers still exist for older adults trying to thrive in their older years. That’s why it’s important to elevate the mental health needs of #olderadults. Join us in this cause. Share their stories: https://tinyurl.com/mrnwbwu9
Option 2 (longer length for Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
“They help me feel alive.”
Behavioral Health Outreach for Aging Populations (BHOAP) programs across #MA offer in-depth assessments, care coordination, and more for #olderadults – often in their own homes.
BHOAP teams allow older adults to receive care in a way that reduces barriers and meets them where they are – setting goals and maintaining quality of life and connection. Learn more about this life-saving program: https://tinyurl.com/mrnwbwu9
