Healthy Aging, Nutrition & Wellness MA State News & Information

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation’s Universal Access Program is offering accessible recreation opportunities throughout the fall at DCR properties across Massachusetts.

Programs include:

🥾 Adaptive hiking
🚲 Accessible cycling
🛶 Kayaking, canoeing & rowing
⛳ Adaptive golf

Participants have access to adaptive equipment, professional staff, instruction and support—and family members, friends and companions are encouraged to participate too.

💡 Ways COAs can use this resource:
• Share the fall schedule in your newsletter or on social media
• Highlight opportunities with walking, fitness or outdoor recreation groups
• Share with residents who may benefit from adaptive recreation
• Use the program as inspiration when considering accessibility in your own local parks, trails and recreation programs

Accessible recreation supports movement, independence, social connection and participation—all important pieces of healthy and age-friendly communities.

👉 Share the opportunity and help more older adults discover what’s possible outdoors this fall.
