MLRI's New Online Tool Can Help Check if SNAP Recipients are Exempt From the ABAWD Work Rules

Some adults on SNAP ages 18 through 64 must meet the ABAWD Work Rules to get SNAP for more than 3 months. However, many adults are exempt from these rules, and DTA cannot subject someone to the ABAWD Work Rules until they've screened them for all exemptions during their application or recertification interview.

If your client has been told by DTA that they need to meet the ABAWD Work Rules, MLRI’s new online tool can help check if your client has an exemption. This tool also gives clients who are exempt the option to generate a statement summarizing their results, which they can choose to use as a self-declaration to send to DTA.
