Newton Volunteer Coordinator for Cooper Center

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, promoting, and securing funding for programs, services, and volunteer initiatives that provide educational, cultural, physical, social, and wellness opportunities for Newton’s older adults. The position oversees volunteer recruitment, training, placement, and recognition while fostering meaningful engagement and support for Older Adult Services (OAS) programs.


The Coordinator plays a key role in planning and managing program logistics, scheduling, and communications to ensure the successful delivery of services, events, and activities. This position works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, community partners, and participants to create a welcoming, inclusive, and well-organized environment that enhances the quality of life for older adults.


Opened in December 2025, the Cooper Center for Active Living is a state-of-the-art senior center that has welcomed more than 40,000 visitors in its first six months of operation. The OAS Volunteer Coordinator helps support the Center’s continued growth and success by strengthening volunteer engagement and ensuring high-quality programming and services for the community.
