Northfield Council on Aging and Senior Center Director
COUNCIL ON AGING/SENIOR CENTER DIRECTOR - The Town of Northfield is seeking an energetic, outgoing, and self-motivated individual to be the Director of the Council on Aging (COA) and the Northfield Senior Center. The position is 40 hours, of which some may be outside normal business hours to attend events, meetings, and conferences with a salary range of $67,564.65-$82,544.73.
The Director manages the daily operations of the senior center; plans and implements social, recreational, health, education, travel programs; make referrals geared to the interests, needs, and financial means of the elderly; and engage in senior outreach. The Director administers and maintains statistical and financial reports required by town, state, and federal officials, as well as prepares the annual budget and applies for grants. Required: Bachelors degree in human services, social work, or related field; three to five years prior work experience with the senior population; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; knowledge of and respect for the aging process; and understanding of the physical and emotional impact of aging. Must be a mandated elder-at-risk reporter, pass a CORI check, have a working knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, and budgeting.
Preferred: Knowledge of elder agencies at the local, state, and federal levels to be able to assess and refer elders to appropriate available services. Knowledge of the local, state, and federal laws and regulations as pertaining to the provision of senior services. Dementia training/certification, experience in grant writing beneficial.
