General Summary
The Senior Center Program Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities at the Senior Center. This position involves routine work coordinating, setting up, and actively participating in program activities. The role reports to the Director of the Council on Aging and includes related tasks as needed to enhance the center's operations and services.


Essential Job Functions

  • Program Coordination:

    • Set up designated areas for scheduled programs, including moving furniture, equipment, and supplies.
    • Assist volunteers with refreshment preparation and serve refreshments to older adults.
  • Activity Management:

    • Check-in participants for activities, collect fees (if required), and record fees collected.
  • Facility Maintenance:

    • Maintain the cleanliness of the café and monitor its inventory.
    • Prepare supply orders as needed.
  • Volunteer Support:

    • Substitute for volunteers who are late or absent.
    • Assist in preparing the monthly newsletter for distribution and mailing.
  • Participant Engagement:

    • Answer questions from older adults about activities and programs.
    • Photocopy and assemble materials for programs.
  • Emergency Assistance:

    • Provide basic first aid to older adults in emergencies.
  • Additional Duties:

    • Perform other related work as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of two years of experience working with older adults or a combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and Certifications:

    • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
    • Certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Defibrillation preferred.
    • Strong computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and Canva preferred.
  • Other Requirements:

    • Compassionate and empathetic attitude toward older adults.
    • Ability to pass a CORI test.
