Part Time Council on Aging Coordinator
Title: Ashby C.O.A. Coordinator
Description:
A COA Coordinator provides essential support to the center's operations, assisting the Director with administrative tasks, program activities, and client service, while ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for seniors.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support:
- Answering phones, taking messages, responding to emails, and providing information to participants and visitors.
- Maintaining records, including participant information, and program attendance.
- Preparing and coordination with Director on monthly newsletter.
- Assisting with clerical tasks such as filing, typing, and data entry.
- Managing and tracking supplies and equipment.
- Utilize outside support for COA programs through open communication with but not limited to Town Departments, outside agencies, volunteers, and Friends of Ashby COA.
Program Support:
- Assisting with the planning and implementation of activities, events, and programs.
- Setting up and preparing areas for activities, events, and meals onsite and offsite.
- Point of contact for daily Meals on Wheels delivery.
- Providing transportation assistance through MART, coordinating rides, and ensuring the safety of participants.
Client Service:
- Providing a welcoming and friendly environment for senior center participants.
- Assisting participants with their needs and answering questions, providing resources and information.
- Promoting positive public relations with seniors, family members, and guests.
Other Duties:
- Assisting with volunteer coordination.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the senior center.
- Adhering to all food handling, food service, and safety and sanitation standards.
- May be assigned to work field trips.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and pass a CORI check.
- Some experience working with seniors or in a client service environment is preferred. An ideal candidate will be understanding of the needs of seniors, enjoy working with seniors and be sensitive to confidentiality.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Canva and My Senior Center software experience helpful but not required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Other:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- May require frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Flexibility on schedule depending on COA activities and needs.
Hours/Pay:
16 hours per week, TBD. No benefits available for part time employment
Rate: $17.80/hr
