Westfield COA Transportation Coordinator

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Maintain, oversee, and coordinate all duties related to the transportation program including dispatching. 

SUPERVISION:

This position is under the general supervision of the COA Executive Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise transportation staff, including drivers and dispatchers.
  • Analyze and recommend best practices for the operations of the program.
  • Manage transportation reservations for medical appointments, senior center visits, shopping, errands and other rides.
  • Schedule and assign van drivers, including sub drivers and volunteer drivers as necessary. May need to serve as alternate van driver as necessary.
  • Coordinate any third-party rides that are provided in connection with the transportation program.
  • Monitor, schedule and run reports using transportation software.
  • Compile and submit reports and statistics accurately, as required by funding source.
  • Ensure drivers receive and maintain training and proper certificates as required. 
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained in safe and operable conditions at all times.
  • Reconcile finances collected by drivers with database software and provide accurate reports to the appropriate staff member for deposit to city. 
  • Any other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid MA drivers’ license.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Experience in dispatch and/or transportation services, preferred.
  • Prior training including accessible lift use and passenger securement, defensive driving, disability awareness, and drug and alcohol awareness safety sensitivity preferred, or ability to complete within acceptable timeframe from hire.
  • Thorough knowledge of streets and facilities throughout Westfield and surrounding towns, including Springfield, preferred.
